Discover Cook Out

If you’ve ever driven through Middle Georgia craving a quick, satisfying bite, Cook Out at 1340 Sam Nunn Blvd, Perry, GA 31069, United States, is probably already on your radar. I stopped by on a humid Friday evening after a high school football game nearby, and the drive-thru line wrapped around the building. Still, it moved fast. Within ten minutes, I had a tray loaded with a chargrilled burger, Cajun fries, and one of their famous milkshakes.

The first thing you notice is the menu. It’s big-almost overwhelming at first glance-but in a good way. Burgers, barbecue sandwiches, hot dogs, chicken wraps, quesadillas, and over 40 milkshake flavors. According to Technomic’s reports on quick-service restaurant trends, customers today value customization and variety more than ever. That’s exactly what this place delivers. You can mix and match sides in a way that feels more like a diner than a typical fast-food chain. I swapped standard fries for hushpuppies on my tray, and no one blinked.

What really sets this Perry location apart is the consistency of the food. The burger patties are cooked over an open flame, which gives them that slightly smoky, backyard-grill flavor. It’s not just marketing talk-there’s a noticeable difference between flame-grilled beef and flat-top cooked burgers. The Maillard reaction, a chemical process that creates browning and deep flavor when meat is exposed to high heat, is clearly at work here. You taste it in every bite.

On another visit, I tried their pulled pork sandwich. Living in Georgia, barbecue standards are high. While it’s not a slow-smoked, pitmaster-level brisket experience, it holds its own for a quick-service stop. The pork was tender, lightly sauced, and paired well with a side of coleslaw. The balance of sweet and tangy felt intentional, not accidental. It’s a practical option when you want comfort food without the wait time of a full-service smokehouse.

The milkshakes deserve their own spotlight. I’ve tested everything from Oreo mint to banana pudding, and the texture is consistently thick-almost spoon-required thick. The National Restaurant Association often highlights indulgent desserts as a major driver of repeat visits, and after watching families in the parking lot comparing shake flavors, it’s easy to see why. These aren’t thin, watered-down drinks. They’re rich, creamy, and honestly big enough to share.

From a practical standpoint, the Perry location is easy to access right off Sam Nunn Boulevard, making it a convenient stop for travelers heading along I-75. Parking is straightforward, though it can get tight during peak hours. Most of the traffic leans heavily toward the drive-thru, especially late at night. That’s another strong point-extended hours. For students, shift workers, or road-trippers, having a reliable late-night option matters.

Service has been efficient in my experience. Orders are typically accurate, and the staff keeps the line moving without feeling rushed or dismissive. In online reviews across platforms like Google and Yelp, many customers echo that sentiment: affordable prices, generous portions, and fast service. Of course, like any busy chain, occasional wait times happen during peak hours. It’s worth noting that freshness sometimes depends on timing; going during off-peak hours often means hotter, just-prepared food.

Nutritionally speaking, this isn’t health food, and it doesn’t pretend to be. The menu leans heavily into burgers, fries, shakes, and Southern comfort staples. If you’re counting calories, you’ll need to plan carefully. However, the variety does allow lighter combinations-like grilled chicken wraps paired with a small side.

Overall, this Perry, GA location reflects what the brand does best: affordable trays, customizable sides, flame-grilled flavor, and indulgent desserts. Whether you’re a local looking for a reliable late-night meal or a traveler passing through, it delivers exactly what you expect from a Southern fast-food favorite-quick service, bold flavors, and a menu built for serious cravings.

  • The food was good, felt a little stingy on the cheddar bites, the double order on my tray looked like a single order (8). Tasted good.

  • My wife & I tried cookout burger for the first time tonite. Really delicious food. We tried burgers, fries, o rings, quesadilla, etc. I thought the fried okra and hush puppies were both delicious. What a treat. Very fair prices. Employees were kind & polite. We'll be back. Shocked this place gets 3.9 stars. It's outstanding.

  • Excellent food and even better prices. If you're getting fast food, choose cookout! They're not greasy like the other places.

  • I have visited a few times lately and this Cook Out is better than many in our area. Faster service than others. I also didn't get blasted by a cloud of pot smoke out of the drive thru window like I have at other Cook Outs in Warner Robins, Macon, and McDonough. Huge plus! Most of my food was cooked right, only one burger was burnt on the edges, something a lot of Cook Out locations have been having trouble with for a while now. All the sides have been cooked better than average too. At other locations they leave the cheese bites in the grease until they bust open and burn the cheese on the outside of the batter. This place is better than many other Cook Outs in the area and is not far off from 5 stars!
